Conductor's Biography
Guo Hua Xia is an accomplished Suzuki Method violin and viola teacher. He earned degrees in performance music at the Shanghai Conservatory in China and at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. In addition to his private teaching practice, he co-founded and directed a violin program at the Juneau Charter School for many years. He has since founded and directs three string ensembles for young people of varying skill levels. Mr. Xia is a regular performer with the Juneau Symphony. He is also the musical director of the non-profit group Juneau String Ensembles, dedicated to providing musical opportunities for Juneau youth, inspiring young musicians, and developing cross-cultural understanding through travel by sharing the universal language of music. |
